Alfred Mwangi, who goes by the stage name Marsh Kiddy, is accused of stabbing his friend and fellow performing artiste David Kabaka.

An upcoming performing artiste is on the run after allegedly killing his friend at the Kinyago informal settlement in California Ward, Nairobi, on Sunday night.

According to witnesses, Alfred Mwangi, who goes by the stage name Marsh Kiddy, fought with his friend and fellow artiste David Kabaka at around 11 pm, after a bitter brawl ensued within minutes of their meeting.

The witnesses said Marsh Kiddy stabbed Kabaka several times in different parts of his body.

He fled after committing the crime and deleted his Facebook page, they said, adding he had exhibited violent behaviour and often caught up in altercations with his friends.

"For about two weeks, Marsh Kiddy has been behaving violently, attacking anyone who chastises him for whatever reason. He seemed to have been going through some personal issues that were triggering so much anger in him," one of the eyewitnesses told The Eastleigh Voice.

Locals added that the killing was shocking as the two were great friends.

It sparked protests in Biafra estate, adjacent to the Kinyago slum, on Monday, with residents setting tyres on fire and demanding Marsh Kiddy's immediate arrest and prosecution.
